achem!.....pushing boundaries IV

SO... We gots ourselves a fine tune today! Infected Mushroom, apart from being the awsomest psy trance artists ever, have managed their way into almost any new psy enthusiasts cd wallet. But thats not what gets them into pushing boundaries 4, nop.

its simply because their music, while being psychedellic, doesnt quite fit with any other psy artist... ever. they are musicaly enlightened composers who draw from theatrical elements to twist your brains on the dance floor. and their music is awsome.

this track comes from a downtempo album called Converting Vegetarians and is probably the album that will hook you first, the other albums are full of dance floor trance madness. anyway... converting vegetarians

pushing boundaries III - shpongle

Everybody loved Enigma and Deep Forest, I know most of you over the age of 25 can rememeber singing away to some african lyric and dancing to the funky world beatz. But at the same time was a revolution in the hippy movement who were begining to embrace electronic music.
LSD was still a prime influence in music creation and psychedellic trance was born from this and the relatively new rave scene.
Simon Posford, the man behind the 'halucinogen' - argueably the first mainstream psy-trance act, joined forces with Raja Ram - a rave enthusiast and dj of the new psy scene, to create Shpongle - an amazing link to the psy-chill era.
From Shpongle came a plethora of new sounds and techiniques in chill-out music and made its way to being one of my top played artists in my colection.

pushing boundaries II - boards of canada

Boards of Canada havn't been in much of a pop style spotlight, but I think they have made more of an impact than most in the underground idm and downbeat scene. Most of your favourite emo bands that all you emos love today will probably list Boards of Canada as a favourite.
They're known for revamping old 60's and 70's tv show samples, which are by nature grainy and rough, while puncuating them with idm style percussion.
Always and interesting riff or synth melody, always a delve into an ambient atmosphere.
This one caught me with the heavy drumkit sequence towards the end:

pushing boundaries - autechre

This is Autechres 'Gantz Graf' from 2002, and i think it marks the end of extreme experimentalism in the elctronic music scene. shit's been done now. i havnt heard anything quite as marginalised as this since.
i dunno maybe you can help me find something thats recent and as experimental. also dubstep is crap. inb4 dubstep.

I think il spend the next few posts linking vids and tunes that i think have been forefront in music history.

HAi gUYs

Iv just finsihed reading this book here:
Its Great! Gobal polution has put the environment on the edge of the point of no return and a bunch of billionaires disregard the human race and scramble at any chance they get to save themselves while a bunch of useless hippies try to stop them.
Its his first book, written in the 80's and iv read about 7 others from him. He's the most entertaining writter ever in my opinion.

Playstation 3 with motion-sensing controls

Sup yo, playstation are bringing out motion sensitive controllers to bring VR into a new state!! kik-ass, soon we'll all be in our own movie!

copypasta
Virtual fighters engaged in a bare-knuckle brawl as Sony introduced a world of street fighting played out with Move motion-sensing controls for PlayStation 3 videogame consoles.
Players bobbed, jabbed, punched and head-butted under the daunting gaze of action film tough guy Danny Trejo, whose animated character is a coach in "The Fight: Lights Out" title set for release on November 9.

I'd imagine this will be the advent of a thousand more games and even new genres of games. Nintendo Wii started the craze, lets see what sony can come up with :)
